Regarding the National Travel Support Coupons from Jan 10, 2023

Starting January 10, 2023, the regional coupons for the National Travel Support have changed from paper to electronic coupons. Weekdays: 2,000 yen per person per night/day. Holidays: 1,000 yen per person per night/day. Furthermore, Chiba Prefecture adds an extra 2,000 yen per person per night! This means on weekdays, it becomes 4,000 yen per person per night. Children sleeping with parents are also included, making it very cost-effective. To receive and use the electronic coupons, you need to download the 'regionPAY' app. When checking in at your accommodation, you will be given a paper with a QR code for the regional coupon. You can use it as is at participating stores, but it is recommended to scan the QR code, charge the coupon to your smartphone, and use it as an electronic coupon. The reasons are that the secretariat recommends electronic coupons, and there are many stores where paper coupons cannot be used. Also, you can charge coupons for everyone onto one person's smartphone.
