As of June 9, 2026, Freelance Board analyzed the monthly average rates for 523,724 listed projects, categorized by programming language, framework, and job type. The report also includes current insights into the IT freelancer market and forecasts for future trends.

Monthly Average Project Rate for Freelancers

The average monthly rate for freelancer projects in June 2026 was 763,000 JPY, with the highest rate reaching 3,000,000 JPY.

The remote work ratio for freelancer projects was as follows: fully remote at 24.8% (down 1.5 percentage points from the previous month), partially remote at 56.4% (up 0.4 percentage points), and on-site at 18.8% (up 1.1 percentage points).

Compared to May 2026, most programming languages saw an increase in average monthly rates.

The highest average monthly rate was for "Ruby" at 836,000 JPY (up 1,000 JPY from the previous month).

In second place is "Rust" at 836,000 JPY (down 2,000 JPY from the previous month).

Rust is a programming language that offers high memory safety, supports concurrent programming, and delivers excellent performance.

Monthly Average Rates by Framework

We present the monthly average rates by framework.

Compared to May 2026, most frameworks showed little change in monthly rates.

The highest average monthly rate was for "Ruby on Rails" at 840,000 JPY (unchanged from the previous month).

Ruby on Rails is a framework that emphasizes convention over configuration, enhancing development productivity and offering access to a rich ecosystem of libraries.

In second place is "RSpec" at 832,000 JPY (down 8,000 JPY from the previous month).
