Background

IPA conducts the 'DX Trend Survey' annually to understand the current status and challenges related to digital transformation in domestic and international enterprises. From April to June 2026, IPA conducted the 2025 fiscal year survey targeting domestic enterprises, and today announces key findings on DX initiatives and outcomes, AI and data utilization, talent development, and more. The detailed 'DX Trend 2026' report and data collection will be published in late July 2026.

Overview

The survey results show that the proportion of companies engaged in DX and those achieving results remains at the same level as the previous survey. While outcomes related to digitalization of data and operational efficiency remain high, results linked to corporate value creation remain low, with no significant change. AI adoption is expanding, particularly among large enterprises, and many companies report tangible benefits. However, the proportion of companies experiencing expected or above-expected results remains limited. Furthermore, the primary use cases and benefits of AI are still centered on operational efficiency and speed.

Thus, while DX outcomes remain concentrated in areas such as operational efficiency, outcomes related to corporate value creation remain low. Although AI adoption is growing, its application remains focused on operational efficiency and speed, with limited expansion into value creation, as clearly indicated by the survey.

In addition, this survey analyzes DX performance metrics, corporate culture and environment, data utilization and collaboration, AI implementation and operational challenges, and the status of skill assessment for DX-promoting personnel, compiling these into a comprehensive report. Year-on-year comparisons are conducted for questions consistent with previous surveys, and a data collection exceeding 100 pages will be published alongside the report.

IPA hopes that these survey results will serve as a valuable reference for enterprises already engaged in DX and those planning to begin, supporting efforts to advance DX that enhances corporate value and strengthens competitiveness.
