The survey targeted 800 married individuals (men and women aged 20-49) nationwide who have experience with konkatsu.

Survey Result Summary

1. 82.9% of married individuals with konkatsu experience feel happy in their current married life ("Very Happy" 40.4% / "Somewhat Happy" 42.5%).

2. Happiness levels were not systematically differentiated by attributes such as gender, age, occupation, household income, or presence of children.

3. Individuals with a higher "Personal Konkatsu Score," which measures self-understanding before marriage, reported higher happiness levels, with a difference of 33.2 percentage points between the high group (90.6%) and the low group (57.4%).

4. Regarding reasons for marriage, those who felt "shared values" had the highest happiness level at 91.0%, while those who felt they could "support each other in times of need" had the highest percentage of "not feeling happy at all" at 12.7%.

Key Finding 1: Happiness in Married Life Was Not Differentiated by "Attributes" Such as Gender, Age, Income, or Presence of Children

The total percentage of respondents who answered they feel "very happy" or "somewhat happy" in their current married life (happiness realization rate) was 82.9% of the total.

The breakdown was 40.4% "very happy" and 42.5% "somewhat happy," indicating a near-equal proportion of those with strong happiness and those with moderate satisfaction. "Not very happy" was 10.3%, and "not happy at all" was 6.9%.

By gender and age group, the happiness realization rate ranged from 73.7% (men in their 20s) to 87.8% (women in their 20s), with all groups exceeding 70%. The difference between the highest and lowest was 14.1 percentage points. Including occupation, household income, and presence of children, no factors were found to systematically and significantly differentiate happiness levels among the attributes examined this time. It should be noted that the percentages for those in their 20s should be viewed with a wide margin due to the small number of respondents (19 men, 41 women).

Key Finding 2: Individuals Who Could Articulate Their "Values and Desired Relationship" Before Marriage Reported Higher Happiness Levels

As an indicator of self-understanding before marriage, we used the proprietary index "Personal Konkatsu Score" (established in Vol. 1, calculated from answers to 6 self-understanding items on a 24-point scale) and compared the current happiness realization rates by dividing respondents into high, medium, and low groups.

The happiness realization rate showed a stepwise increase: high group 90.6%, medium group 83.5%, and low group 57.4%, with a difference of 33.2 percentage points between the high and low groups. Happiness, which was not differentiated by attributes, was clearly divided by the degree of self-understanding before marriage.

Looking at the 6 self-understanding items individually, the group that "could do it" for all 6 items had a higher happiness realization rate. The largest difference was for "could imagine the kind of relationship to build with a partner" (+18.7 pp), while the difference for "understood the causes and challenges of setbacks in konkatsu" was the smallest at +5.6 pp. This suggests that the ability to articulate what one cherishes may be more strongly related to a happy married life than the analysis of weaknesses.

Regarding reasons for marriage, those who felt "shared values" had a high happiness realization rate of 91.0%, and those who felt they could "discuss even if opinions differed" had 90.2%. In contrast, those who matched "desired conditions such as age and appearance" had 81.0%, which was below the overall average (82.9%). Furthermore, the percentage of those who "not happy at all" was highest among those who felt they could "support each other in times of need" at 12.7%, and 0.0% among those who felt they could "discuss even if opinions differed." Note that reasons for marriage allowed up to three multiple answers, and this does not negate the importance of mutual support.

Conclusion

This survey confirmed that 82.9% of married individuals with konkatsu experience feel happy in their current married life, and that happiness levels are not systematically differentiated by attributes such as gender, age, income, or presence of children.

What differentiated happiness was the ability to articulate one's values, vision of marriage, and relationship before marriage (self-understanding). There was a 33.2 percentage point difference in happiness realization rates between the high and low groups of the Personal Konkatsu Score, and a tendency for higher happiness realization rates among those who chose based on values and dialogue was also confirmed when categorized by reasons for marriage.

The ability to articulate one's values and desired relationship is something that anyone can develop. In konkatsu support, it is considered important not only to provide opportunities to find a partner but also to support the process of articulating what one cherishes and the desired relationship, starting from individual values.
