This seminar aims to prevent traffic accidents, especially serious ones, by deepening understanding of Japanese traffic rules and the correct use of bicycles.

Background

In recent years, with the shortage of automobile mechanics becoming an issue, the acceptance of foreign technical interns has been increasing at car dealerships in Hokkaido. On the other hand, in addition to differences in language and culture, many interns feel uneasy about Japan's unique traffic rules. Some cases involve anxiety about using bicycles, and the acquisition of knowledge regarding traffic safety is required.

JAF has been continuously engaged in traffic safety awareness activities targeting foreign tourists in cooperation with related organizations. However, efforts in traffic safety education for foreign workers have not been sufficient, posing a challenge. In light of this situation, Hokkaido Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. was facing similar issues, leading to the first-ever traffic safety seminar for foreign workers.

About the Seminar

The seminar will include a traffic safety talk by the Hokkaido Police, as well as hazard perception training using bicycle simulators and VR goggles, and vehicle blind spot experience, aiming to improve traffic safety awareness and acquire correct traffic rules.

JAF will continue to promote traffic safety education activities in cooperation with related organizations and groups to contribute to creating an environment where foreign workers can live in Japan with peace of mind and concentrate on acquiring skills and knowledge.
