The Japan Contents Blockchain Initiative (JCBI) has launched the 'AI, Spatial Computing, and Decentralized Infrastructure Committee.'
With the evolution of spatial computing (XR) technology, digital content as 3D data has transformed from mere visual information into something that possesses physical presence by integrating with reality through devices such as smart glasses. Furthermore, the advent of generative AI, which allows for the free control of 3D data movement, is ushering in an era where digital content can behave dynamically and autonomously through the fusion of AI and XR.
In recent years, as enormous computational resources are required to stably distribute dynamic 3D content, expectations for leveraging Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks (DePIN) have been rising as a means to supply resources at low cost and high efficiency.
On the other hand, for this new 3D content to properly circulate and expand globally in the future, it is essential to establish a secure and reliable environment where the authenticity of creators' works is guaranteed and revenue is appropriately returned to them.
Therefore, JCBI, which is currently working on the development of an international standard at the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) for 'legally and continuously granting rights for digital content based on contracts via tokens,' has decided to establish the 'AI, Spatial Computing, and Decentralized Infrastructure Committee' (AI/XR/DePIN Committee) to contribute to the healthy development of the 3D content distribution market by utilizing this standard.
The committee aims to build a rights-based environment where rights holders can provide their works as 3D digital content with peace of mind, in compliance with the international standards being developed by ISO.
Additionally, Mr. Taketoshi Yatabe, CBO at Mawari, Inc., a global leader in immersive computing networks for spatial computing that operates and provides a decentralized physical infrastructure network with over 180,000 nodes based on 3D streaming technology, has been appointed as the chairperson of the committee. Mr. Asahi Iwanaga, also from Mawari, Inc., will serve as the vice-chairperson.
