YUGEN Gallery FUKUOKA (Stage 1 Nishidori 4F, 2-1-4 Daimyo, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture) will host a live performance on July 12, 2026 (Sun), as a special event for the special exhibition "Yuki Nishimoto's Now" -2026-.

Yuki Nishimoto is an artist who, based on traditional ink painting techniques, has pioneered new forms of ink art by crossing into contemporary art, entertainment, pop culture, and regional traditional customs. In 2019, he displayed an ink painting of the Pokémon "Rayquaza" inside Tokyo's Shibuya Station and on the exterior wall of SHIBUYA109. In 2023, his artwork was selected for the globally popular card game "Magic: The Gathering," and in 2025, the "Toyokawa Inari Yuki Nishimoto Art Museum" opened on the grounds of Toyokawa Inari, drawing significant attention both in Japan and abroad.

Nishimoto has previously performed live paintings at iconic venues both domestically and internationally, including Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, Daigo-ji Temple in Kyoto, and the official banquet of the FIFA Club World Cup Japan 2016.

This live painting event offers a rare opportunity to witness up close the moment when Nishimoto creates his art, captivating audiences as he has done at other special venues. The tension-filled process of ink flowing across a blank canvas and gradually forming a complete image delivers a unique, immersive experience distinct from viewing a finished piece—an experience only possible with ink painting.

The exhibition features around 20 works, including his signature dragon motifs, animal-themed pieces, and artwork related to the Hakata Gion Yamakasa festival. This live painting session will deepen visitors' understanding and appreciation of Yuki Nishimoto's artistic world. We sincerely look forward to your participation.
