Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Ichiro Takahara) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with the Geological Survey of India (hereinafter referred to as GSI) on June 30, 2026, concerning the exploration of mineral resources, including critical minerals. This was announced on the occasion of the Japan-India Summit Meeting held on July 2.

India has a global presence in the steel and non-ferrous industries and is expected to be a future producer of critical minerals. JOGMEC has now signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with GSI, which is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Mines of India, regarding the exploration of mineral resources, including critical minerals.

Based on this memorandum, both parties will promote the exchange of information and opinions on mineral resource exploration, evaluation, and exploration technologies, and contribute to the expansion of partnerships in the mineral sector between Japan and India.

JOGMEC will contribute to strengthening our country's supply chain through various international collaborations in the field of critical minerals.
