The Japan Planning Institute (JPI) will host a seminar featuring Takashi Yanai, a Director at Nihon Sekkei, who serves as head of environmental technology and smart city planning, and is also Vice President of the Society of Heating, Air-Conditioning and Sanitary Engineers of Japan. The seminar will provide a detailed explanation of the genealogy of "environmental architecture" and its future challenges. Environmental architecture acts as a mirror, reflecting the critical issues of each era, such as energy conservation, global environmental concerns, business continuity planning (BCP), pandemics, and carbon neutrality. This lecture will examine the past and future, analyzing the critical issues of each era alongside design case studies, and will consider future perspectives such as Life Cycle Carbon (LCC) reduction at the architectural and urban scale. Aimed at professionals in construction, design firms, real estate development, and ESG promotion departments, this seminar provides the necessary design insights required during the transition from ZEB to Zero Carbon Buildings. The seminar is available via venue attendance, live streaming, or archive viewing.
