Central Japan Railway Company and JR-Central Retailing Plus will integrate and redevelop the waiting room and retail space at Nakatsugawa Station on the Chuo Main Line, creating a station space that will serve as the new 'face of the town.'

1. Background of the Renovation Nakatsugawa Station is a gateway to the East Mino area where the Limited Express 'Shinano' stops, and it is used by a wide range of customers from commuters to tourists. Following the closure of the station store in May 2025, discussions were held with local stakeholders to create a high-quality station space that integrates comfortable and convenient waiting room functions with retail functions that promote the charm of the region.

2. Overview of the Plan (1) Waiting Room This area will be a bright, open space integrated with the retail store, allowing passengers to spend their waiting time comfortably. Through glass windows facing the platforms, passengers can view trains, including the 'Shinano' limited express, and experience the excitement of the station.

(2) Retail Store - Name: PLUSTA Nakatsugawa This new 'PLUSTA' store will feature a sales floor approximately 2.5 times the size of the former Bellmart Kiosk. It will cater to a wide range of needs, from daily use by commuters to tourism, offering a variety of products including local specialties from areas such as East Mino, Kiso, and South Shinshu.

3. Schedule (Planned) - Around autumn 2026: Opening of the waiting room and store. *Due to renovation work, a temporary waiting room will be available starting from the first train on Monday, May 25, 2026.
