Tadateru Konoe (87), former President and current Honorary President of the Japanese Red Cross Society, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 9:45 PM, at the Japanese Red Cross Medical Center due to a dissecting aortic aneurysm.

The wake will be held on Sunday, May 31, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and the funeral service will be held on Monday, June 1, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, at the Tsukiji Hongwanji Temple Dai-Dendo Kaikan (3-15-1 Tsukiji, Chuo-ku, Tokyo).

The chief mourner is his wife, Yasuko Konoe.

Please note that the bereaved family has strictly declined offerings of flowers, incense money, and gifts.

Throughout his life since joining the Japanese Red Cross Society, he worked tirelessly for Red Cross activities.
