Regional Charm Transmission Base 'Coqu' to Open at Kawatana Station

JR Kyushu, in collaboration with Kawatana Town, is transforming idle space at Kawatana Station into 'Coqu', a base for promoting local charm. Part of the 'ekinico' initiative to revitalize unmanned stations, the facility will serve as a 'trailer' for the town's natural beauty and culture. A pre-opening event is scheduled for May 30, 2026, featuring gallery exhibits and local specialty drinks. The full opening, planned for winter 2026, will introduce a light dining counter. The project aims to connect visitors with the local community and encourage tourism.
