As part of the demonstration initiatives by the 'Study Group on the Future of the Ibusuki Makurazaki Line (Ibusuki–Makurazaki Section)' established in August 2024, we will continue the cycle train demonstration project for another year. While last year’s project used temporary trains, this year’s initiative will utilize regular weekend and holiday services—five trains in total (up and down lines combined)—making it accessible to the public. The project aims to uncover latent demand, increase opportunities for visitors to the沿线 area, and expand relational populations. Additionally, by improving convenience for tourists and cyclists, we aim to promote surrounding tourism and generate economic impact along the line.

The沿线 area features stunning scenic spots ideal for cycling, including Nishioyama Station—the southernmost railway station in Japan, Mount Kaimon known as 'Satsuma Fuji,' and vast tea fields. The service allows flexible route planning according to physical ability, such as taking the train for long distances and cycling only in scenic areas with excellent views. Why not enjoy a relaxed ride through beautiful landscapes while feeling the sea breeze from the unique perspective that only cycling can offer?

After an enjoyable cycling experience, we recommend unwinding with Ibusuki’s famous natural sand bath hot springs or savoring bonito dishes in Makurazaki—local delights that offer relaxation and culinary pleasure unique to the region. Whether you're looking for a casual ride or a serious tour, you can enjoy the journey at your own pace.

Please note that advance reservation is required to use the cycle train service. Reservations for your train and travel section must be made via the dedicated reservation website listed below. For full details of the demonstration project, please refer to the attached document.
