Kimura Information Technology Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Saga City, Saga Prefecture; President: Takao Kimura) will implement a hands-on (experiential and practical) lecture utilizing the online virtual space platform 'ROBLOX (Roblox)' at Saitama Prefectural Niiya-Yanase High School (located in Niiza City, Saitama Prefecture) in September 2026.
This lecture will be conducted as part of the school’s 'DX High School Project (High School DX Acceleration Initiative)'.
'ROBLOX' is a platform used by approximately 150 million people daily worldwide. In this lecture, Kimura Information Technology will leverage its next-generation IT creator education program 'Creanavi' to deliver a practical, inquiry-based curriculum where students create their own original games using 3D modeling and programming.
Background: The Need for Practical Digital Education in the DX High School Initiative
Under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology’s 'DX High School (High School DX Acceleration Initiative)', Japanese high schools are rapidly advancing efforts to prioritize education in information technology and mathematics, along with ICT infrastructure development. However, while high-spec PC environments and other infrastructure are being established, the next critical challenge lies in introducing practical educational content that effectively harnesses these tools to foster student autonomy and creativity.
For today’s high school students, digital technology and games are familiar. However, in the coming DX society, what is required is a shift in perspective—from being mere 'consumers' of these technologies to becoming 'creators' who build systems with their own hands.
This initiative aims to realize digital education that systematically teaches the fundamentals of programming and 3D modeling through game development on the global platform 'ROBLOX', cultivating logical thinking and creativity applicable in real-world contexts.
Four Key Features of the Program
Project-Based Learning: Using the Global Platform 'ROBLOX' as a Learning Tool
Students will use 'Roblox Studio', the game development engine of the globally popular 'ROBLOX', to experience digital creation in a near-professional environment. This approach maximizes student interest and engagement throughout the learning process.
Integration of 3D Modeling and Programming: Building Game Worlds Independently
In addition to intuitive 3D modeling for spatial design, students will learn the basics of programming (using the Lua language) to add interactivity to their games. They will experience the joy of seeing their ideas instantly take shape and come to life.
Hands-On Workshop Format: A Design That Encourages Students to 'Learn by Doing'
After group instruction via screen sharing (input), ample individual work time (output) is allocated for each student to operate their PCs and experiment through trial and error. The program is designed to promote active, student-centered, and self-directed learning rather than passive reception.
Presentation and Review Session: Achieving Success Through 'Creation' and 'Objective Evaluation'
In the final session, students will share their original metaverse spaces and games with one another. By incorporating time for instructor feedback (critique), students will learn not only how to create but also the importance of refining their work through others’ perspectives.
