Kanou Shoujuan Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture, President: Fuyuki Shibata, hereinafter referred to as 'Kanou Shoujuan') will hold its annual harvest event 'Plum Picking' at its home base, Chojyu no Sato, starting Saturday, June 13, 2026. In conjunction with this, we will begin accepting orders for the 'Yusan Tsuzura (Plum) Plum Juice Kit' on our online shop. This product is a kit that allows you to easily enjoy making plum juice at home, containing the 'Josyu White' plums grown at Kanou Shoujuan's Chojyu no Sato, sugar, and a preserving jar.

This product can also be purchased at the 'Plum Picking' venue at Chojyu no Sato.

Plum Cultivation by a Japanese Confectionery Maker

At Chojyu no Sato, guided by the philosophy 'The origin of confectionery making lies in agriculture,' we have been cultivating plums for confectionery ingredients on our premises since the garden's opening in 1985. Currently, we have planted a total of approximately 700 plum trees, including those for ornamental and cross-breeding purposes. Among these, the most widely planted variety, 'Josyu White,' is a rare cultivar primarily grown in the Aotani region of southern Kyoto Prefecture. It is characterized by its large size, thick flesh, and a rich aroma reminiscent of peaches. Furthermore, its good sugar penetration rate makes it ideal for making plum wine and plum juice.

After harvesting these plums, Kanou Shoujuan ages them in its own plum storehouse and processes them into ingredients for popular confectionery, such as 'Shino' and others.
