Kansai Airports is pleased to announce that the new international commercial area opened on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, as part of Phase 4, the final stage of the Kansai International Airport T1 renovation. To mark the opening, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held with Kansai Airports CEO Yoshiyuki Yamaya, Co-CEO Benoit Rulleau, and other stakeholders. The new commercial area is located in the section extending north and south from the international departure area (central part) that opened in December 2023. It features 24 new stores, including luxury brands, popular local specialty shops, and restaurants, creating a more fulfilling space for passengers before departure. Additionally, the 'Call to gate' initiative has been launched, where gate numbers will be announced at the most accurate time possible. Until the gate number is announced, passengers can enjoy their time in the enhanced international departure area. With this opening, the T1 renovation project, which began in 2021, is now complete, and the area of the international departure zone (central part) has increased to approximately 1.6 times its pre-renovation size. The Kansai Airports Group will continue to work with stakeholders to create new travel experiences as the gateway to the Kansai region.
