Karakami HOTELS & RESORTS Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo; President & CEO: Yamatō Karakami) announced that it acquired the resort hotel 'Hotel Hamahigashima Resort' in Uruma City, Okinawa Prefecture, on March 31, 2026. This acquisition marks the first entry of Karakami HOTELS & RESORTS into Okinawa Prefecture.

Hamahiga Island is a remote island located on the east coast of central Okinawa's main island, accessible by land via the Mid-Sea Road and Hamahiga Bridge. It has long been called the "Island of the Gods," dotted with sacred sites related to the ancestral gods of the Ryukyu creation myth.

Hotel Hamahigashima Resort is a small, 29-room resort hotel situated on a hill on the island. Its charm lies in the panoramic ocean views, with a scenic bath on the top (4th) floor overlooking the Pacific, an outdoor pool, and the natural 'Muruku Beach' just a three-minute walk away.

Unlike the west coast, where large-scale resort development is progressing, the area around Hamahiga Island retains Okinawa's original scenery and a tranquil atmosphere. We aim to further improve our services while preserving the charm of this place, which has been cherished by our guests.
