KATO WORKS Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President: Kimiyasu Kato; hereinafter referred to as "the Company") is pleased to announce that it has revamped its "REGZAM" series of hydraulic excavators and will launch the first model of the new series, the 14-ton class compact rear swing hydraulic excavator "HD514MR-9", in July 2026.

Development Background

Construction sites are increasingly demanding reduced environmental impact, improved fuel efficiency, and enhanced comfort, safety, and maintainability. In confined spaces, such as densely built-up areas, there is a growing need for machinery that can operate efficiently while being considerate of the surroundings.

In response to these needs, the Company has revamped its "REGZAM" series of hydraulic excavators. This new model, the first in the series, inherits the fundamental performance that was highly regarded in previous models while ensuring operability in confined spaces as a compact rear swing machine. Furthermore, through the redesign of various parts of the machine, it is a 14-ton class compact rear swing hydraulic excavator that enhances work efficiency, environmental performance, durability, maintainability, comfort, safety, and vehicle management.

Main Features

1. Work Performance Leveraging the output and torque performance of the newly adopted engine, the hydraulic system has been optimized, realizing a more powerful, smoother, and stress-free operating feel. Travel Performance 10% UP in traction force Swing Performance 18% UP in torque Work Efficiency 9% UP in cycle time for 90-degree swing dumping excavation Additionally, it offers expandability to support a wide variety of attachments, enabling its use in a broad range of work sites (※Optional).

2. Environmental Consideration Equipped with a new clean engine Complies not only with the "2014 Standards for Emissions of Specified Motor Vehicles" but also with European emission regulations (European Stage V). Designated as an "Ultra-Low Noise Construction Machine" by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) Designated by MLIT as an "Ultra-Low Noise Construction Machine" for products that are more than 6 dB below the specified noise standards for "Low Noise Construction Machines." Certified as an "MLIT 2020 Fuel Efficiency Standard 100% Achievement Construction Machine" Certified under the MLIT "Fuel Efficiency Standard Achievement Construction Machine Certification System" for achieving 100% of the 2020 fuel efficiency standard (☆☆☆), recognizing its excellent fuel performance. Equipped with an exhaust gas after-treatment unit (DOC + DPF + SCR) The Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) and Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) capture particulate matter (PM) in the exhaust gas, significantly reducing emissions, and efficiently burn and regenerate soot accumulated in the DPF. The Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system reduces nitrogen oxides (NOx) in the exhaust gas.

3. Durability and Maintainability - The bushings (bearings) at each joint of the boom and arm have been replaced with high-performance sintered bushings. This enhances grease retention on the connecting pins, improving durability. - The swing motor has been redesigned, improving durability by 35%. - Various filters are centrally located within the engine room for integrated placement, improving daily inspection and maintenance efficiency.

4. Cab Interior Comfort - A new cab (operator's seat) has been adopted. The front space, including the footwell, has been expanded, improving comfort during entry/exit and operation. - The highly acclaimed APC control system has been inherited. Optimal settings for work modes and attachment hydraulic flow can be made via touch panel operation. - A newly adopted split floor mat makes cleaning easier.

5. Safety - The display area for camera images on the 7-inch wide LCD panel has been expanded by 91% in area ratio, improving visibility. - A side defroster function has been adopted. Air is blown onto the side windows from inside the cab to remove fog and frost, improving right-side visibility and supporting comfortable and safe operation. - A new human detection surround view system (※Optional) has been added. It detects people around the machine, contributing to the reduction of accident risks.

6. Security and Management Equipped with the telematics (operation management system) "K-Cast" Enables remote monitoring of location, operating status, fuel level, etc., for each unit. By improving vehicle management efficiency, it contributes to the optimization of site operations and maintenance planning. Adoption of a new entry system Authentication has been changed from the conventional tag authentication to password input, contributing to the prevention of tag loss and the reduction of vehicle theft risk.
