TOKIUM Inc., a provider of accounting AI agents, conducted a survey on the actual state of AI utilization among 946 accounting professionals.
In this survey, 65.4% of accounting professionals responded that AI utilization is 'important' for improving productivity in accounting tasks. This marks a substantial increase of 15.6 points from the previous year's survey (49.8%), highlighting a surge in recognition of AI's importance in the field over the past year.
The percentage of companies actually utilizing AI in accounting tasks reached 27.8%, approximately 1.5 times more than the previous year. Including those 'considering implementation' (24.4%), a total of 52.2% of companies are now positive about AI, showing that the trend has spread to over half of the industry.
However, challenges have also come to light. The most cited issue was a 'lack of specialized talent and know-how for AI operation and data analysis' (49.5%), followed by a 'lack of operational skills and knowledge' (42.5%), and a 'lack of ongoing support and adoption assistance' (31.5%). Notably, challenges in the operational phase have increased by around 10 points since last year, indicating that the field is moving to a stage of questioning 'how to master' rather than just 'whether to implement.'
Through its 'Move AX' project, TOKIUM will continue to support corporate accounting transformation by providing AI agents and sharing survey data and case studies.
