Mercian Corporation (President: Masamitsu Otsuka) announced that three of its wines—'Chateau Mercian Mariko Omnis 2019', 'Chateau Mercian Kataoka 2023', and 'Chateau Mercian Mariko Syrah 2022'—won gold medals at the International Wine Challenge 2026 (IWC), held in the UK from April 20 to 27, 2026. Additionally, three wines including 'Chateau Mercian Kataoka Cabernet Franc 2023' received silver medals, and six wines including 'Chateau Mercian Tamamoro Koshu Kiiroka 2024' received bronze medals. Furthermore, in the newly established 'Icon Wines' category for flagship wines, 'Chateau Mercian Mariko Omnis 2019' scored 96 points, and 'Chateau Mercian Kikyogahara Merlot Signature 2020' scored 95 points. These results are seen as evidence that Japanese wine has reached a level where it is evaluated alongside the world's top-range wines, reflecting the improved quality of Chateau Mercian.
