Project Background KNT-CT Holdings Co., Ltd. announced its participation in the 'Pecan Nut 100 Year Forest Project,' a collaborative initiative involving Salon de Royal Co., Ltd., Rikuzentakata City, and the University of Tokyo. On May 17, the group held a commemorative tree planting ceremony in Rikuzentakata City, Iwate Prefecture.
This project aims to revitalize Japanese agriculture and regional areas by expanding the domestic production and distribution of pecan nuts. Pecan trees are known for bearing fruit for over 100 years. By planting these trees on land that remained untouched for 15 years following the Great East Japan Earthquake, the project creates a 'forest of hope' meant to last for a century.
Tree Planting Ceremony and Site Visits The ceremony took place at the Takata field in Rikuzentakata, attended by Mayor Taku Sasaki. Following the planting, the group visited sites such as the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Memorial Museum and the 'Miracle Pine Tree' at the Takata-Matsubara Tsunami Reconstruction Memorial Park to pay tribute to the victims.
Future Outlook KNT-CT Group defines this initiative as a social contribution activity that connects the progress of post-disaster reconstruction to the future. Going forward, the group will continuously engage in developing original products and creating new tours. Furthermore, the initiative aligns with several SDGs (Goals 8, 11, 13, and 17), aimed at generating a 'relational population' and contributing to the sustainable revitalization of the region.
