The cumulative circulation has surpassed 1 million copies (including digital)!! "St. Elmo's Fire" is a song included in BUMP OF CHICKEN's sixth original album "COSMONAUT," released on December 15, 2010 (Wed).

Uno's lifeline in an unstable world is a handwritten notebook he keeps prepared. It chronicles the steps he has taken through trial and error. By following Uno's progress, Kobayashi becomes a new person, and at the same time, Uno is guided by Kobayashi. A video has been completed, set to the perfect song, depicting the miraculous story of two people who continue to walk forward, even as they lose their sense of direction.

Thank you for this wonderful opportunity!

When I draw manga, I always choose an image song. Sometimes I simply pick a song I like, but because I'm forgetful, it also serves as a marker to help me remember the characters' initial emotions and beliefs.

I decided that "St. Elmo's Fire" would be the main marker when I was drawing the first chapter. The intro is cool and feels like the beginning of a story... I love it.

I feel influenced by all the lyrics, but the line "I hope I don't get hurt climbing this" always fills my heart. I want to continue drawing my work with that feeling in mind.

Synopsis of "Kimi to Uchu wo Aruku Tame ni"

Uno, an eccentric transfer student, joins the class of Kobayashi, a delinquent high school student who can't stick with his studies or part-time jobs. Uno struggles with things considered "normal," such as freezing up when spoken to repeatedly or being unable to do multiple things at once. However, Kobayashi resonates with Uno's efforts and various coping mechanisms, prompting him to take action to change himself. This is a story of friendship about two people who struggle to live enjoyably while facing their own walls.

Inuhiko Doronoda (どろのだ いぬひこ)

Born in Shizuoka Prefecture. Received a special commendation in the Afternoon Four Seasons Award 2022 Autumn Contest for "Tokyo Ningyo." He has been serializing "Kimi to Uchu wo Aruku Tame ni" on the web manga site &Sofa from Kodansha's Afternoon editorial department since June 2023. The work won the Grand Prize at the Manga Taisho 2024 awards and ranked first in the male category of Takarajima-sha's "This Manga Is Amazing! 2025."

BUMP OF CHICKEN

A four-member rock band consisting of Motoo Fujiwara (Vo, G), Hiroaki Masukawa (G), Yoshifumi Naoi (B), and Hideo Morita (Dr). All born in 1979, they are childhood friends from Sakura City, Chiba Prefecture. They made their major debut in 2000 with the single "Diamond." In 2001, "Tentaikansoku" became a major hit, and their first major album "jupiter" in 2002 topped the Oricon charts. They held their first Tokyo Dome concert in 2014 and appeared on the NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen at the end of 2015 and 2021. They released their 10th album "Iris" in September 2024 and will release the single "I" in December 2025. From October 2026, they are scheduled to hold the arena tour "BUMP OF CHICKEN TOUR 2026-2027 Ratio Clavis," covering 10 venues and 20 performances, including dome concerts.
