Kort Valuta Inc. (HQ: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Hideki Shibata) announced the release of a corporate initiative model that utilizes its next-generation wallet, 'TwooCa,' to support behavior change in heatstroke prevention, against a backdrop of increasing heatstroke risks from severe heatwaves and growing corporate interest in safety management and health-conscious business practices.
According to the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, the number of workplace casualties due to heatstroke reached a record high of 1,257 in 2024, making countermeasures an urgent issue, especially in the construction, manufacturing, and transportation industries. Furthermore, with heatstroke prevention measures becoming mandatory in the workplace from June 2025, the importance of continuous safety measures and employee awareness is growing.
In response, the company has released a new internal initiative model that runs parallel to legal compliance, utilizing points exchangeable for e-money to support the 'habituation' of employee safety and health behaviors.
Examples of Initiatives for Habitualizing Safe Behavior Using Points
The following initiatives are envisioned as customizable internal campaigns for companies:
- Hydration Reporting: Points awarded for reporting hydration a certain number of times. - Watching Heatstroke Prevention Videos: Points awarded upon completion of training or awareness videos. - Pre-work Condition Checks: Points awarded for inputting and recording physical condition and sleep status. - Voice-based Condition Checks: Utilizing the TwooCa Mental Check Service, points are awarded for regular implementation to support awareness of daily condition changes.
These models are designed to be flexibly implemented on a one- to two-month basis, corresponding with periods like the summer heatwave.
Towards a System Where 'Actions Continue,' Not Just Posters and Warnings
The company believes that in addition to safety measures like posters and warnings, initiatives that support voluntary and continuous employee safety actions are increasingly important. They expect that using points exchangeable for e-money will help create an environment where employees are more likely to participate in safety and health behaviors voluntarily.
This model is intended not only for on-site operations in logistics, construction, and manufacturing but also for use in health management and well-being promotion initiatives in office settings.
About TwooCa
TwooCa is a collective term for services provided by the company, primarily through the TwooCa app, which features an employee/membership ID with an international brand card payment function. As the associated payment card is prepaid, it is available to all employees and members (limited to residents of Japan). It can also be used for expense reimbursement and peer-to-peer transfers among employees/members.
Developed under the philosophy that 'what goes around comes around'—that considerate actions ultimately strengthen the organization and society—TwooCa was built on the idea that valuing employees and members leads to an increase in corporate and organizational value. The service also supports employee behavior promotion and an 'effective increase in take-home pay' through points exchangeable for e-money. These efforts were featured on the TOKYO MX news program 'Horijun Live Junction' on March 16, 2026.
