Kumamoto National College of Technology (Kumamoto Prefecture, Yatsushiro City/Koshi City, Principal: Kenji Hayashi, hereinafter referred to as "Kumamoto KOSEN") held an AI training session for its faculty and staff on Friday, May 22, Reiwa 8 (2026), as part of its Faculty Development (FD) and Staff Development (SD) training, with the cooperation of Microsoft Japan, Ltd.
This training was made possible through the accessibility promotion initiatives by Microsoft Japan, Ltd. and the support of the KOSEN-AT network, led by Professor Kiyota of Kumamoto KOSEN's Information Engineering department. In the training, with the company's cooperation, the AI training program "mirAI for Japan," developed by the certified NPO CLACK, was utilized, with Mr. Yuya Koike from the organization serving as the instructor.
On the day, a total of 128 people participated, including over 50 online participants from National Colleges of Technology in the Kyushu region. The first half of the training consisted of a lecture on basic security precautions necessary before utilizing generative AI. In the latter half, participants learned hands-on about the fundamental operations of Microsoft 365 Copilot and its practical applications in school administration.
This training has increased interest among faculty and staff in utilizing generative AI in educational settings and deepened their understanding of its appropriate use.
