Kagoshima National College of Technology (Kagoshima Prefecture, Kirishima City, Principal: Keiko Michi, hereinafter referred to as "Kagoshima Kosen") held the "First Technical Training Session for Reiwa 8" on Friday, June 5, Reiwa 8, organized by the industry-academia-government exchange organization "Kagoshima Kosen Techno Club" (Kirishima City, Kagoshima Prefecture, Chairperson: Mio Tsurugano).
*What is the Kagoshima Kosen Techno Club (KTC)? It is an industry-academia-government exchange organization between Kagoshima Kosen and volunteer companies in the Southern Kyushu region.
Objective
Kagoshima Kosen's mission includes "becoming a college deeply rooted in the region that supports the region's industry, culture, and life," and this technical training session is an initiative that also leads to strengthening regional cooperation.
Overview of the Technical Training Session
The training session was attended by over 105 participants, including members from 55 KTC member companies and faculty and staff from our college.
A special lecture was given by Ms. Misuzu Shirotani, representative of Global Hospitality Lab Co., Ltd., titled "Hospitality Skills that Turn Technical Prowess into Value - Common Traits of Companies That Differentiate Themselves, Taught by a CA & Expo Lecturer." Based on Ms. Shirotani's experience and demonstrations, the importance of hospitality skills was highlighted, along with practical points such as the three principles of hospitality for engineers. Participants commented, "I want to face my colleagues and customers with 'Respect All' and 'Smiling Voice' in mind," and "I want to apply this to how I interact with students," making it a meaningful session.
In the latter half, Professor Hitoo Tokunaga, Head of Academic Affairs at Kagoshima Kosen, explained the newly revised departments starting this academic year, and Mr. Koji Suehiro, Chairperson of the Kagoshima Kosen Alumni Association, spoke about the alumni association and its collaboration.

Activities of the Kagoshima Kosen Techno Club
The Kagoshima Kosen Techno Club holds three technical training sessions annually, inviting lecturers from various fields to give special lectures on themes that match the current times. In addition to this, they also engage in the following activities:
- Holding regional company research sessions for college students to learn about local businesses
- Initiatives for regional creation centered around KTC, such as special lectures for students and site visits to regional companies and workplaces
- Grant programs or technical consultations to promote joint research with Kagoshima Kosen faculty
- Human resource development programs where Kagoshima Kosen faculty lecture young employees of companies, etc.
