KRAFTON JAPAN announced that ReLU Games' 'MIMESIS' won the Excellence Award in the Game Design category at CEDEC AWARD 2026 and is a Grand Prize finalist. CEDEC is Japan's largest game developer conference. 'MIMESIS' was highly praised for placing an AI that mimics player actions and conversations at the core of the experience. The committee commended how it combines AI with a voice chat-based co-op game to create fear and laughter. In the game, the AI NPC 'Mimesis' imitates players' voices and actions, blending in as a teammate and causing players to constantly doubt if their friends are real humans. This creates extreme tension and unexpected twists. Unlike traditional horror games with pre-programmed enemies, this AI learns from real-time voice chat and behaviors, deciding autonomously when and how to approach players. The game started as a prototype by four developers in October 2024 and reached early access in about a year. It sold 1 million copies globally within 50 days of launch, making it KRAFTON's second 2025 title to reach this milestone on Steam after 'inZOI'. ReLU Games CEO Kim Min-jung expressed gratitude for the global response and Japanese support.
