Kyoto Research Park Co., Ltd. (President: Kojiro Asano, hereinafter "KRP") will host "KRP Fes 2026," featuring an event titled "Experience the Mystery of 'Measuring' and 'Understanding' Temperature – Try Your Hand at Coin Polishing!" by HORIBA, Ltd., starting on Saturday, July 25, 2026.
KRP will hold "KRP Fes 2026" over two days: Friday, July 24 and Saturday, July 25, 2026. Centered on the themes of "Technology," "Community," and "People," the festival will concentrate around 25 diverse events, including programs to promote interaction among researchers and engineers from companies and institutions based in the KRP area, events for entrepreneurs and startups, and cultural and artistic activities.
About the Event The "measuring" devices used in this event translate human sensory abilities (the five senses) into clear numerical data using scientific technology. Children will get to use two types of HORIBA's "measuring" instruments: a radiation thermometer and a gloss meter. In the radiation thermometer experience, participants will explore mysterious temperature-related phenomena and make their own discoveries through observation and critical thinking. In the gloss meter experience, children will polish coins themselves and see how shiny they can make them, with results shown as measurable values. We welcome young aspiring scientists to challenge themselves by observing and thinking critically about everyday phenomena.
