Keiei Sanbou Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President: Kenji Shintani), which operates the business community bar "Sanbou BAR," will hold an event titled "[SME Exploration Group for the Future] In a Shrinking Population Society, What Should SMEs Do?" on July 30, 2026 (Thu) from 7:00 PM at "Sanbou BAR Shinjuku." The event will use Shu Yamaguchi's book "The Future of Business" as a starting point for business owners to discuss the role of SMEs in a shrinking population society. (Organizer: Shirakata Research Institute Co., Ltd.). We await the participation of business owners who wish to step away from their daily operations and consider the future of their companies and society from a long-term perspective.
Background of the Event
As society faces a shrinking population, securing human resources is becoming increasingly difficult, customer numbers are decreasing, and even maintaining local communities is becoming challenging. It is said that economies, societies, and management based on the premise of "growth" due to population increase will no longer be sustainable. In such a situation, what options remain for SMEs? What are the winning strategies for the future? How can they survive and continue to embody their philosophy? This event is held to consider these hypotheses with many company presidents. Because there is no single correct answer, we create a space for business owners to discuss with each other.
Event Features and Highlights
* Exploring the future of SMEs from a long-term perspective, using Shu Yamaguchi's "The Future of Business - Bringing Humanity Back to the Economy" as a guide. * Participants can attend with peace of mind even if they haven't read the book beforehand, as a book summary will be shared at the beginning. * Participants will discuss three themes: "The Age of Plateau Society and the Mission of Business," "From Economic Rationality to Humanism," and "Rethinking the True Meaning of Business." * A format where business owners can speak frankly with each other in a relaxed atmosphere while enjoying drinks at a bar.
