[Kyoto University of Foreign Studies] Applications Now Open for the "2026 Spring Semester Lifelong Learning Courses" – Opening Doors to the World and Supporting Multicultural Understanding in the Era of Reskilling

Kyoto University of Foreign Studies (Chairman: Juro Kita | Location: Ukyo-ku, Kyoto) has begun accepting applications for its 2026 Spring Semester "Lifelong Learning Courses." Utilizing the university's educational resources, we are launching a total of 33 courses (for the spring semester) that cater to a wide range of needs, from beginners to advanced learners, and from tourism-related fields to culture and liberal arts.

Background: Why "Multilingual" Re-learning Now?

In an era of rapid AI advancement and the redefinition of globalization, the importance of "communication skills accompanied by cultural understanding"—which goes beyond mere translation—is increasing. Our university's lifelong learning courses aim to foster true international understanding by not only acquiring language skills but also by deeply studying the history and culture that lie behind them.

In the context of "reskilling" (re-learning), which has garnered significant attention in recent years, multilingual study that looks toward diverse regions such as Asia, Europe, and Latin America, in addition to English, has been highly supported by many, including local residents, as an opportunity to cultivate multifaceted perspectives.

Features of the 2026 Spring Semester Courses

Our university's lifelong learning courses are composed of the following two pillars:

◎ An Overwhelming Multilingual Lineup

Offering 13 languages unique to Kyoto University of Foreign Studies, including English, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, French, German, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian, Russian, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Thai, and Turkish.

◎ Returning Specialized Educational Knowledge to Society

Direct instruction by our university's faculty and experienced lecturers. We provide practical curricula that can be used in daily life and while traveling, all while being backed by academic rigor.
