Kyndryl Japan announced today the launch of its "IT Service Modernization Solution" in Japan, which leverages agentic AI to enhance operations across IT infrastructure design, construction, operation, and maintenance.
Developed using the "Kyndryl Agentic AI Framework" approach, this solution supports the transition from traditional labor-centric infrastructure operation models to autonomous, intelligent, AI-first workflows. Initial service offerings focus on infrastructure configuration design and impact analysis during requirements definition and design phases, as well as change management during operational phases, with plans to expand to the entire IT lifecycle.
Through the service and its proven assets, the agentic AI autonomously judges necessary tasks based on user instructions and executes operations by coordinating multiple AI agents. This achieves standardization and efficiency for tasks previously dependent on the experience and manual labor of skilled IT engineers. By utilizing the Agent Builder—a technical component of the Kyndryl Agentic AI Framework—and the multiple workflows created therein, customers can apply reusable agentic AI to tasks in a short period without custom development, shortening the time from introduction to production deployment. Furthermore, by incorporating, systematizing, accumulating, and inheriting Kyndryl's long-standing knowledge in mission-critical areas into AI, the solution contributes to the succession of specialized operational expertise.
For instance, in system change impact analysis, AI analyzes data sources cross-functionally and generates reports accounting for processing time impacts and dependencies. This automates complex manual investigative tasks, supporting faster decision-making and improved operational quality.
In recent years, while IT talent shortages have intensified in Japan, IT environments have become increasingly complex and advanced, reaching the limits of human-dependent operation models. Moreover, many companies' IT environments are not designed with AI integration in mind, creating a gap between AI capabilities and actual operations. The Japan edition of the Kyndryl Readiness Report 2025 reveals that AI utilization in Japanese companies remains at the PoC (Proof of Concept) stage, highlighting the challenge of achieving full-scale deployment within enterprises.
Yoshinori Irisawa, President and Representative Director of Kyndryl Japan, stated:
"Many enterprise environments are designed with the assumption that humans will operate tools, not with the integration of agentic AI. This structural gap is a barrier preventing AI adoption from progressing from the validation stage to full-scale deployment. Furthermore, since high reliability, clear control, and reproducible service operations are required for mission-critical systems, extensive operational know-how and track record are essential for AI application. Kyndryl will continue to support companies in transitioning to more advanced and sustainable operational service models, where humans and AI divide roles and collaborate in appropriate areas."
