On June 5, 2026, Reitaku University and Le Lien, Inc., which develops inheritance and end-of-life platforms, held a presentation event for student-founded 'Shukatsu Companies' during the university's general lecture 'Inheritance Business Platform Theory.'
In this presentation, digital-native Gen Z students were divided into eight groups of four to five members to establish virtual companies. Under the conditions of a real-world organizational structure and a '1 million yen capital,' they proposed proactive and practical end-of-life business models that transcend traditional concepts of 'clearing out personal effects.'
The event took place during the final lecture of a course offered by the 'Inheritance Engineering Research Center,' the first of its kind in Japan, established within the Reitaku University Faculty of Engineering. Students assumed corporate roles such as 'CEO,' 'Operations Manager,' 'Platform Manager,' 'Marketing Manager,' and 'Finance Manager,' constructing realistic business plans focused on how to generate profit and contribute to society with 1 million yen in capital.
The business ideas proposed by the eight virtual companies (groups) are as follows: - Memorial Support, Inc.: Future-oriented graves that are easy to inherit - Care Bank, Inc.: Investment savings service for end-of-life planning - LOOP, Inc.: Estate item listing agency service ~RE:MEMORY~ - Kanaeru, Inc.: WISH LIST x Dream Fulfillment Business LIVIT - Harunatsu Dango, Inc.: Shukatsu.com - IIS Life, Inc.: Pre-death asset liquidation service - Mikan Travel Agency, Inc.: The last adventure for your life - First Step, Inc.: Shukatsu seminar
Ideas incorporating digital tools and perspectives on social issues drew particular attention. LOOP, Inc.'s estate item listing service, 'RE:MEMORY,' operates by listing estate items on secondhand marketplace apps and receiving 15% of sales profit as a commission, capturing the growing trends of sustainability and reuse consciousness.
Additionally, 'LIVIT' by Kanaeru, Inc. is an experiential service for fulfilling life's unfinished business, accompanied by a marketing strategy utilizing social media. Furthermore, practical approaches to realistic social challenges were presented, such as a platform-type business using AI end-of-life apps by Care Bank, Inc., and an asset liquidation scheme for the elderly by IIS Life, Inc.
