Eli Lilly Japan and Tanabe Pharma announced that their co-produced short film, 'Obesity - Redrawing My Future,' has received Bronze awards in both the 'Pharma' and 'Wellness' categories at the Saniss Awards.
The Saniss Awards honor excellence in creative communication within the global healthcare and wellness sectors. This marks the first time a Japanese entry has won an award, with judges highly evaluating the film's success in deepening social understanding of obesity as a medical condition.
The film portrays societal misconceptions—such as the idea that obesity results from lack of willpower—and the inner struggles of patients through beautiful line-art animation, aiming to foster empathy. These elements were key to its recognition in both the 'Wellness' and 'Pharma' categories.
Obesity is a chronic disease influenced by genetics, stress, and environmental factors, often requiring medical treatment. The companies are currently promoting the 'Could this obesity be an obesity disease?' project, of which this film is a part. They remain committed to continuing their efforts to promote correct understanding of obesity.
