LIXIL Housing Research Institute conducted a survey among 400 people who built a new custom-built detached house within the last five years and 200 people planning to build one within the next three years, regarding their priorities when purchasing a home, needs for facilities and spaces, and IoT products. The results showed that 65.2% of respondents prioritize 'low living costs' when purchasing a home, significantly higher than the 34.8% who prioritize 'low initial costs.' Regarding facility needs, 'large pantries' and 'robot vacuum bases' were cited as desired features, while 'robot vacuum bases' and 'smart home functions' were also ranked high among features found unnecessary after installation. For IoT products, security devices such as doorphone monitors and smart locks were the top three considerations for adoption.
