On March 13, 2026, Long Black Partners Inc. (hereinafter LBP) held the "2nd Business Revitalization Conference" at The Prince Park Tower Tokyo (Minato-ku, Tokyo).
The purpose of this conference was to bring together professionals involved in business revitalization practices, such as financial institutions and lawyers, to discuss and exchange opinions on current practical issues related to business revitalization, with a focus on supporting the business revitalization of small and medium-sized enterprises.
On the day of the event, approximately 60 banks, credit unions, and government-affiliated financial institutions (about 100 people) from across the country, as well as numerous lawyers specializing in business revitalization (about 50 people) from various law firms, participated, making it a venue for practitioners involved in business revitalization to share their knowledge.
Keynote Speech: Trends in Recent Business Revitalization Cases, Early Business Revitalization Law, and Corporate Value Collateral Rights
In Part 1, LBP delivered a keynote speech on the theme of "Early Business Revitalization."
The lecture pointed out the challenge that, against the backdrop of excessive debt issues after the COVID-19 pandemic, many revitalization processes are prolonged without a clear exit strategy after the formulation of a management improvement plan. It also raised issues regarding the increase in sponsor-led revitalization cases and the longer time required for sponsor transfers.
Given this situation, the importance of financial institutions, lawyers, and external experts collaborating to consider the direction of revitalization from an early stage, and the significance of utilizing public-private revitalization funds, were emphasized.
Subsequently, Mr. Nobuaki Kobayashi, a lawyer from Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu, gave a lecture on the theme of "Early Business Revitalization Law and Corporate Value Collateral Rights," explaining the future outlook for business revitalization practices in light of the new law scheduled to be enforced this year.
