**Naoya Nishimura Profile** Born in 1985 in Nagoya. He began playing the violin at the age of 4, receiving early instruction from Naoko Hasebe, Natalia Boyarskaya, and the late Fumiko Kondo. At the age of 12, he was deeply impressed by the performance of the violin prodigy Ivry Gitlis and aspired to become a professional musician. He then entered the tutelage of Professor Yoko Seto, and in 2000, enrolled in the attached music high school of Tokyo University of the Arts, studying under Professor Yoshinari Urakawa and Kumi Sugiyama. In 2001, he won first prize in the junior division at the Ifrah Neeman International Violin Competition held in Mainz, Germany. During his stay in Germany, he was inspired by a performance by the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and aspired to become an orchestral musician in Germany. After enrolling in Tokyo University of the Arts in 2003, he moved to Germany. He entered the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts, joining the class of the late Professor Roman Nodel. He received a scholarship from the Agency for Cultural Affairs' Overseas Study Program for Artists. In 2010, he graduated from Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts with the highest honors, performing a program including his own compositions at his graduation recital. In 2014, he completed the soloist course at the same university's graduate school.
