What is AKIRA EIGHTY-EIGHT? Akira Kobayashi celebrated his Pre-70th anniversary in 2024, his 70th anniversary in 2025, and the 70th anniversary of his Nikkatsu debut in 2026. He will turn 88 (Beiju) this November and will host events touring 88 locations over the 21 months until he turns 89. This event consists not only of concerts, but also collaborations with various people he has worked with so far, including Nikkatsu. We are planning movie events, video works that bring the young Akira Kobayashi back to life using AI, and the announcement of new songs.
