Lotte Co., Ltd. has announced the nationwide launch of 'Koume Gum' on June 2, 2026, expanding its iconic 'Koume' brand which has specialized in sweet and sour plum flavors since 1974. The new product features a soft, sweet plum-flavored gum base with a heart of intensely sour plum gummy, offering a shifting flavor profile as it is chewed. It utilizes 3% Nanko-ume plum juice sourced from Wakayama Prefecture for an authentic, aromatic taste. The packaging features the brand's signature character, Koume-chan, reflecting the brand's long-standing theme of bittersweet first love. Sold in a portable 26g standing pouch, the expected retail price is around 183 yen (tax included). The launch coincides with 'Ume Day' on June 6, celebrating Japan's plum culture.
