LURF GALLERY in Daikanyama will host Makoto Honda's solo exhibition 'Gary Give me' from April 17 to May 17, 2026. The exhibition minimizes verbal explanations, encouraging viewers to connect directly with the art.
LURF GALLERY 2F is pleased to announce Makoto Honda's solo exhibition "Gary Give me".
In Honda's works, fleeting emotional fluctuations and fragments of memory quietly appear as motifs and presences. One feels compelled to find some narrative within them, yet no clear plot is presented. Viewers receive the work in their own context, overlaying the images born from Honda's memories and sensations with their own memories and feelings.
For this exhibition, Honda has minimized verbal explanation and presented only an inverted triangle shape in which the word "ABRACADABRA" disappears one letter at a time as his statement. The form of letters disappearing one by one overlaps with the sensation of temporarily letting go of meaning and explanation to turn one's gaze toward the painting itself.
When standing before the artwork, there is no single answer. We hope you will engage with the pieces and view them according to your own senses.
