The Growing Importance of Connected Device Management with Healthcare DX and Guideline Version 7.0 With the advancement of healthcare DX, a diverse range of devices such as electronic health record terminals, medical devices, printers, various IoT devices, and personal devices are being connected to healthcare institution networks. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare's "Guidelines for Security Management of Medical Information Systems, Version 7.0" is expected to be implemented in June 2026. Cybersecurity measures are increasingly being positioned as a critical issue that not only system administrators but also management and executives must address. The leakage or destruction of medical information can lead to risks affecting patient safety and well-being, as well as the continuity of medical services. Therefore, healthcare institutions are required to implement safety management rooted in actual operations, rather than mere formal measures.

'Unaccounted-for Devices' Become the Entry Point for Ransomware Damage Many healthcare institutions manage devices based on asset ledgers, manual inventory, and reports from on-site staff. However, in reality, it is not easy to accurately keep track of all devices connected to the network. When devices such as medical equipment, printers, cameras, IoT devices, and network equipment are connected at each site, in addition to PCs, if devices that are difficult to manage or unapproved devices remain, they can become the starting point for ransomware intrusion or infection spread, posing a risk to the continuity of medical care.

Start Agentless Device Discovery and Automatic Blocking of Unapproved Devices This seminar will focus on the first step in ransomware countermeasures for healthcare institutions: discovering devices connected to the network and automatically blocking unapproved devices. PFU's "iNetSec SF" is a solution that automatically detects and visualizes connected devices on the network without requiring the installation of dedicated agents for each terminal. It can automatically block the connection of unapproved devices based on policy. This seminar will introduce practical security measures that lead to guideline compliance and device management independent of manual inventory, incorporating real-world ransomware damage scenarios and use cases in healthcare institutions.
