Marutomo Co., Ltd. (President: Hitoshi Akazeki, Head Office: Iyo City, Ehime Prefecture), a company contributing to health and food culture through katsuobushi (dried bonito) and dashi (Japanese soup stock) and marine resources, will launch seven new home-use products nationwide starting Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

The newly announced products include expanded existing lines and a collaborative project with a local beverage manufacturer from Ehime Prefecture, offering a wide range of items.

According to the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare's 'Overview of the 2023 National Living Conditions Survey,' household numbers are increasing, while the average number of people per household continues to decline. With the rise in dual-income households, the market for small, single-use packaging is expected to grow significantly. Additionally, Marutomo has responded to consumer feedback from its own surveys indicating dissatisfaction with leftover katsuobushi packs. As a result, many new products are designed to emphasize 'the right amount to use up, the right amount to use easily,' aiming to meet the needs of diverse lifestyles.

For over 100 years since its founding, Marutomo has been dedicated to preserving Japanese culinary culture through katsuobushi and dashi. In this era of diverse food preferences, the company will continue to listen to consumers and provide food solutions centered on high-quality katsuobushi and dashi that align with evolving lifestyles and societal needs.
