Meiji University's lifelong learning institution, "Meiji University Liberty Academy," will hold a public lecture titled "250th Anniversary of the Founding of the United States: The Changing America, The Unchanging America" on Saturday, July 4th, in collaboration with the Graduate School of Global Arts, at Meiji University's Surugadai Campus. The event will be held in person, requires advance registration, and is free of charge.
Lecture Overview
July 4, 2026, marks the 250th anniversary of the United States' Independence Day. Grand celebratory events are expected to take place across the nation, including in the capital, Washington D.C. In light of this milestone, this public lecture will feature faculty members from our university who view America from the perspectives of social history, economic history, and diplomatic history. They will provide insights, and together with experts in American political history and contemporary American politics research, will examine the long-term trends of "The Changing America, The Unchanging America" from an interdisciplinary viewpoint. Furthermore, with the midterm elections for federal legislators approaching in November 2026, the lecture aims to position the Trump administration within the long-term fluctuations of American politics, fostering a discussion rich with implications for the upcoming elections.
