Meisei Human Resources Center, part of the Meisei Group and a registered support organization, is promoting initiatives to retain foreign care workers amidst a severe labor shortage in Japan's caregiving industry. Recognizing the high early departure and return-to-home rates due to factors like low wages, career stagnation, and language barriers, the center launched 'Dekiru KAIGO®' in August 2025. This online school offers on-demand video lessons in 'easy Japanese' by registered Japanese language teachers, combined with weekly online classes by caregiving specialists. In its first year, 72% of participants passed the national caregiver exam (8 out of 11 students), a marked improvement from the general foreign candidate pass rate of around 30%. The service addresses structural challenges where lack of qualification hinders career advancement and compensation, leading to turnover. 'Dekiru KAIGO®' is a trademarked service providing optimized support through a collaboration of Japanese language and caregiving instructors, featuring easy-to-understand video materials, online classes, and dedicated advisor support. It is often eligible for prefectural subsidies, easing the cost burden for facilities and contributing to stable staffing. Meisei Human Resources Center aims to bridge the gap for both foreign caregivers and the industry, fostering sustainable development in Japanese long-term care.
