Minami Chita Beachland & Minami Chita Toy Kingdom (Okuda, Minamichita Town, Chita District, Aichi Prefecture; Director: Mamoru Ishido) will host an event from Friday, July 17 to Friday, July 31, 2026, to raise awareness about marine environmental issues in conjunction with Ocean Day on Monday, July 20 (a national holiday).
Throughout the event period, themed 'Aquarium × Environmental Issues,' visitors will learn about marine environmental challenges through quiz-style informational panels. On Ocean Day itself, special activities include guided tours by aquarium keepers and the distribution of limited-edition commemorative badges. The event is designed to help visitors understand the challenges facing marine life and make ocean conservation feel more personal and immediate.
1. 'Learning About Environmental Issues at the Aquarium': Save the Ocean – SOS from Marine Life
Special exhibition panels will be installed to clearly explain global marine environmental issues. Designed in a quiz format suitable for children and adults alike, the exhibit encourages active, enjoyable learning, making it ideal for family education. In addition to displaying actual marine debris collected from Okuda Beach adjacent to the facility, the event will showcase beautiful 'upcycled art pieces' made from sea glass recovered from the coastline. Visitors will gain a tangible sense of 'what we can do now' to protect the ocean and the lives of marine creatures.
Event Period: July 17 (Fri) – July 31 (Fri), 2026
Fee: Free (admission to the park is charged separately)
Location: Inside the Marine Pavilion
2. Special Ocean Day Program: Keeper-Led Environmental Guided Tour

The session will explain the current state of marine and plastic pollution and its severe impact on marine life, using real examples and insights into the animals housed at the aquarium. This direct connection between daily human activities and marine life will help visitors view ocean conservation as a personal responsibility.
