To foster startups that compete on a global scale, it is crucial for Tokyo to attract talent and investment from abroad. This requires activating global exchange in English, free from language barriers.
While Tokyo has been advancing initiatives such as hosting 'SusHi Tech Tokyo,' the largest global innovation conference in Asia, it is also implementing the 'Global Exchange Activation Project' to support events that attract overseas business professionals in cooperation with private operators. We are now calling for participants for this project.
1. Project Overview The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is soliciting proposals from private operators and organizations to host and operate events that attract overseas business professionals, contributing to startup growth and the globalization of the ecosystem.
Selected operators (hereinafter 'Agreement Operators') will sign an agreement with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. In collaboration with the city, they will conduct events by the end of February 2027 that contribute to startup growth and attract international business professionals.
Each Agreement Operator will be expected to cooperate with city-led events and provide information on this project to domestic and international audiences, contributing to the activation of global exchange in Tokyo.
2. Call for Proposals We plan to select approximately 5 projects.
Applications are divided into two types: - Convention Type: Single global events inviting stakeholders in the startup and innovation fields from around the world (e.g., trade fairs, conferences). - Salon Type: Recurring events held at fixed locations where stakeholders in the startup and innovation fields gather under a unified theme (e.g., periodic seminars, community salons).
3. Support from Tokyo The government will provide agreement fees based on the evaluation of KPI achievements set by the operators. - Convention Type: Up to 15 million JPY - Salon Type: Up to 7.5 million JPY The government will also provide follow-up services, including networking among Agreement Operators and progress management.
