The Tokyo Metropolitan Government released 'Tokyo App: Past Progress and Future Service Expansion' to promote its official app connecting residents and administration digitally. Since its Feb 2025 release, the app reached about 6.4 million downloads, connected 5.1 million users via My Number Cards, saw 90,000 participants in socially significant activities, and gathered feedback from 570,000 users (as of May 2026). Future service expansion focuses on 4 areas: delivering useful info via push notifications, smooth facility entry and booking via 'Digital Citizen ID', simple receipt of benefits, and easy submission of opinions to the administration. Additionally, the 'Tokyo App Life Support Project' will provide 11,000 Tokyo Points to residents aged 15 and over living in Tokyo who verify their identity with a My Number Card. This initiative aims to promote app usage and support residents' livelihoods amidst rising prices. The project runs from February 2, 2026, at 13:00 to April 1, 2027.
