Tokyo Reveals New Mascot Characters 'Kanaun' and 'Sasaun' for Child-Rearing Support

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) has launched new image characters and key visuals to promote its marriage and child-rearing support policies. The characters are 'Kanaun', a cloud fairy who watches over Tokyoites to support their wishes, and 'Sasaun', Kanaun's knowledgeable partner who is well-versed in TMG's policies. The key visual uses a four-leaf clover motif overlaying hearts. To improve user accessibility, TMG also updated its official support portal, categorizing services across life stages such as marriage, pregnancy, and child-rearing. A promotional video titled 'TMG's Continuous Support for Your Wishes' was released on the portal and YouTube. This initiative is part of the '2050 Tokyo Strategy', specifically Strategy 02: Creating a Child-Friendly Environment. TMG has also established the Action Plan 2026 to offer comprehensive support.
