As part of its PARA SPORTS support project, TEAM BEYOND in Tokyo is holding a workshop to bring people closer to para-athletes and foster interest in para sports. This summer, the focus is on 'climbing,' featuring a special workshop where participants can experience the techniques of para-athletes up close. This event aims to deepen understanding of para sports.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government's para sports support project, TEAM BEYOND, is holding workshops to help people feel closer to para-athletes and increase their interest in para sports.

This summer, we are holding a special workshop themed around the very popular sport of "climbing," where you can experience the skills of para-athletes up close! We will have active "para-climbing" athletes as special instructors, a sport that will be adopted as a new event at the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games, two years from now.

You'll also challenge yourself with tasks unique to para-climbing, such as climbing "blindfolded" or "without using one leg"! You are sure to feel a sense of accomplishment and joy that you can't experience in everyday life when you conquer the climb under conditions like "not seeing" or "not using" certain abilities!! Anyone can enjoy it as long as they have the strength to climb a ladder, regardless of disability, so beginners to climbing and those who don't usually exercise are very welcome.

Recruitment Details

Number of Participants:

Approximately 40 participants per session x 3 sessions = Approximately 120 participants total *Selection by lottery if applications exceed capacity.

Eligibility:

Elementary school students (1st grade) and above ☆Parent-child and group participation welcome (up to 4 people per group).

*Junior high school students and younger must be accompanied by a guardian.

*Participation is open to individuals regardless of disability, but for safety reasons, participants must listen to the instructions and understand the rules.

Participation Fee:

Free

*Free rental of climbing shoes will be available on the day.

*If you use your own shoes, please ensure they are indoor shoes.
