'Satoru Aoyama: Embroidery Boy Forever in Kyoto' Exhibition at Museum Eki KYOTO

The exhibition 'Satoru Aoyama: Embroidery Boy Forever in Kyoto' will be held at Museum Eki KYOTO from June 27 (Sat) to July 26 (Sun), 2026. Born in Tokyo in 1973, Satoru Aoyama studied at Goldsmiths, University of London, and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He creates embroidery works using old industrial sewing machines and exhibits them globally. His works critically and humorously address social issues, including gender issues related to the embroidery technique, as well as labor and capitalist structures in modern society. This exhibition features works ranging from his early pieces to new creations, as well as collaborative works from workshops with children. Events such as gallery talks by Aoyama and a 'Night Museum' session, where he will discuss his works after closing hours, are also scheduled. Admission is 1,100 yen for adults, 900 yen for high school/university students, and 500 yen for elementary/junior high students (tax included). Advance tickets will be on sale from May 15 to June 26.
