Miura Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Tsuyoshi Yoneda), a manufacturer of industrial boilers, will add the electric compact once-through steam boiler "AE-900A" (hereinafter referred to as "this product") to its lineup, with shipments scheduled to begin in December 2026.
This product offers approximately three times the equivalent evaporation capacity compared to the electric simple once-through boiler "ME-200A" released in 2023, achieving the industry's largest capacity*1 in the electric boiler category for compact once-through boilers. Furthermore, by utilizing green electricity*2, CO₂ emissions can be reduced to zero, contributing to customers' carbon neutrality initiatives. Electric Compact Once-Through Steam Boiler AE-900A
Development Background Electric boilers, which use electric heaters as a heat source, are classified into simple boilers, compact boilers, and boilers according to their electrical equipment capacity, based on the "Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health and the Safety Regulations for Boilers and Pressure Vessels." Due to these regulatory constraints, there is a limit to the amount of steam generated per unit within the category of compact once-through boilers that can be operated by personnel with special training. Therefore, when introducing electric boilers for industrial applications requiring a large amount of steam, it was necessary to install multiple small-capacity electric boilers, leading to challenges such as increased installation space and the need to introduce large-capacity electric boilers that require higher operating qualifications, placing a burden on users. However, as a result of the revision of the "Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health and the Safety Regulations for Boilers and Pressure Vessels" on December 18, 2023, which reviewed the calculation method for the heat transfer area of electric boilers, this product has achieved the industry's largest equivalent evaporation capacity of 900 kg/h for electric compact once-through steam boilers. It has been commercialized with a design that allows for close installation, aiming to reduce installation space.
Product Features ① Zero CO₂ Emissions & Low Noise Similar to conventional electric simple once-through steam boilers, there are no combustion-derived exhaust gases, and no combustion noise or fan drive noise, resulting in quiet operation. Furthermore, by using green electricity, zero CO₂ emissions are achieved, contributing to the construction of a decarbonized society.
② Adaptability for Industrial Applications Large Capacity x Close Installation By installing multiple units of this product, which achieves the industry's largest equivalent evaporation capacity within the category of compact once-through boilers, in close proximity, it is possible to introduce electric compact once-through steam boilers while suppressing installation space. Compared to the electric simple once-through boiler ME-200A released in 2023, the installation area per total evaporation capacity can be reduced by approximately 60%.
Can be Dispersed or Co-installed with Fossil Fuel Boilers Leveraging the characteristic of electric boilers that do not require fuel piping or exhaust flues, multiple units can be dispersed according to the required location and steam volume. Installing them near the load equipment is expected to reduce heat loss during steam transfer. In co-installed operation with existing fossil fuel boilers, CO₂ emissions can be reduced to zero by prioritizing the operation of electric boilers and utilizing green electricity. Furthermore, by supporting multiple primary energy sources, operation can be maintained during power shortages or disasters, enabling Business Continuity Plan (BCP) measures. When used in conjunction with a unit control device, the number of operating units of this product can be changed according to the customer's CO₂ reduction targets and green electricity volume*2.
