The Certified NPO Miyagi Children's Hospice Project will hold a "Children's Hospice Workshop" on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 (a public holiday) at Ayashi Hall, Miyagi Children's Hospital.
In this workshop, we will share the journey and current activities of the Miyagi Children's Hospice Project. We will also consider the support required for children's hospices by incorporating the voices of affected children and their siblings.
How can medical care, welfare, education, and the local community connect to aim for a society where children with illnesses or disabilities and their families can live as themselves within the community? We invite anyone interested in children's hospices to join this workshop.
Background
Children's hospices are gradually spreading across the country as places where children with serious illnesses or disabilities and their families can spend time safely, play, and connect.
In Miyagi Prefecture, there is a demand for creating places and mechanisms to support entire families, including the children themselves, their siblings, and their guardians.
The Miyagi Children's Hospice Project is holding this workshop to raise awareness of the current situation and to provide an opportunity to think together about what kind of support is needed in the region.
Workshop Content
In Part 1, "Miyagi Children's Hospice Project Today," we will report on the overall progress of the project and activities at "Kawadaira House." We will also discuss our future direction.
In Part 2, we will hold a panel discussion titled "A Children's Hospice in Miyagi Too! ~Thinking with 4 affected individuals about the support required for children's hospices~." This session will explore the ideal form of regional support while hearing directly from four affected individuals and siblings.
